You're hot and you're cold
Tuesday, April 09, 2013 | 3:55 AM | 0 comments So by a random urge yesterday night, I decided to take a walk around the block."walk" meaning just strolling on the path where joggers pass. I like walking so much better than running. Running belongs in the gyms. Walking should always be done around the block. I wished I had a dog to walk, too, but I digress. you see, so I was just walking, thinking, moving. Nothing much in particular. Then I thought about this lil story of my childhood i never really told anyone before. The story of the time I sat in a police car. It wasn't my fault really, it wasn't my fault per say. See when i was in primary school, I used to have a domestic helper that took care of me. So she would come after school around 4pm to fetch me. (The school closes at 6pm) So that particular day, somehow, I ended school early. So i stood at the gate and i waited and i waited. But i didn't see and I grew impatient. Unlike you lucky kids these days, I didn't have a handphone. So i walked to the nearest payphone in the school, and dialled my helper's no. She picked up, and then the phone went dead. I slotted in another coin and tried again. The phone was just dead. "Probably out of battery" I thought to myself. I didn't know why either, but somehow I didn't think to call my parents. So i went back to where I stood and waited. I waited for what felt like forever, it was 15 minutes till the school closes. I got really frustrated. In came a police car, obviously, i didn't think i had anything to do with it. But then I suddenly saw someone pointing to my direction and the car drew towards me. I saw that my helper was in the police car. I panicked, i thought we didn't pay her levi or she has committed some form of crime, somehow. A policeman came out of the vehicle and escorted me to the back of the car. I was scared stiff, i didn't ask any questions. The police car was cold and clean and would often erupt into noises coming from the walkie-talkies. No one told me what happened, my maid just held me with tiny bits of tears in her eyes. I was droven out of school in a police car. I remembered thinking what my school mates or classmates might think if they saw this. It turns out my helper was robbed by a couple of secondary school boys who pushed to the ground. She got up and tried to chase them. All these happened when I tried to call her and phone went dead. That was the exact second they took to rob her. So technically, it was my fault, i gave the robbers their chance but calling my helper and making her get phone. So...there was that. Ha. what a story. Sorry if it was a stupid one. Thought it would be nice to get it down so I'll remember this weird lil incident when age wins and memory fails me. |
